Dvar Halacha On Parshat Re’eh 08 01 2013

In parshas Re’eh, after discussing the requirement to destroy and uproot the places of idol worship, the Torah states that one must not do this to Hashem. From here we learn that it is forbidden for one to erase the name of Hashem or destory a Beis HaKnesses in any manner. Rebbi Yishmael goes even farther to say that the Torah is warning us not to do sins that will cause our holy places to be destroyed.
