Dvar Halacha On Parshat Vayikra 03 11 2013

In this week’s Parsha we find an interesting halachah pertaining to shavuos, oaths. If one decides to take a certain action, he is not bond to it as long as he was not uttered his from his mouth, as the passuk says, “Or a soul swears by expressing with his lips,” implying that an oath only takes affect if he utters it. This is not so regards to tzedokoh, in which a clear decision to give binds a person even without a verbal statement.
