Negative Commandment #55

Sefer Ha’mitzvos Ha’Katzar (The concise book of mitzvos) By the Chofetz Chaim

This book lists the Torah mitzvos that can be observed today

Second Section – the Negative Commandments

55. It is a negative commandment “do not borrow money at interest from a Jew”

As it states in Devarim (Deuteronomy) 23:20, “You shall not give interest to your brother.” This is a warning to the borrower. The borrower that transgresses this also transgresses the negative commandment in Vayikra (Leviticus) 19:14, “Do not place a stumbling block before a blind man.”

This applies in all places and at all times, for men and for women.
